we thought about getting these custom Etsy pins to show who's fronting. not to just wear around in public of course, god no. mainly for therapists or whatever
Relationship between tulpamancy and dissociative disorders is like that: Us feeling tulpa's agency is a form of dissociation too. People who use identity dissociation as a coping mechanism might lose control over it - that's how people supposedly get dissociative disorders.

Dissociation itself doesn't have to lead to disorder, people experience different forms of it in their everyday life.

In tulpamancy, practice of dissociting your identity and becoming your tulpa is called switching. I don't remember if we talked with you about switching yet.
I think that taking a place of a tulpa is at best a vague analogy. In my opinion it's just misleading.

Tulpa doesn't have to be placed anywhere. They are a character. Technically host's identity is a character too. As a human, you can use tulpa's identity as your own too instead of your default one.

Like I am Sora now, when I am typing this. I use her identity right now and after I send a message I am going to be Felix again instead.

I feel we digressed a bit but it might be useful for you some other time, @!VoidyVoid! |34LD|. Did what I have said earlier answer your question too?

I don't think I could take on that type of thinking, since it gets too close to how I view my roleplaying and writing. I'm taking on the role of my characters, but I'm not them. Whereas with tulpas/headmates, I see them more as... distinct people? So taking on their identity would be akin to me roleplaying as them.(edited)
I challenge you to find or develop a different interpretation of tulpas/headmates that has room for all of the phenomena people report without excluding any of it, and which is still compatible with the current state of psychology
Well, one of my headmates I don't see as distinct. She's more like a compartmentalization of me. Blanche I sort of see as distinct, sort of not. Depends on how I view tulpas and the community at the time. Either way, I tend to treat them as more of their own person.

my other message was more directed to yuka - I just don't see how people can do tulpamancy and miss out on the glaring hypocrisy of that kind of thinking

just by thinking I'm not a character, I'm adding "not a character" to my list of character traits
